Surat Doctor Faces Charges for Illegal Allopathic Practice and Assault

Allegations Against the Doctor

A BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) doctor in Surat, Gujarat, has been charged for allegedly practicing allopathy without the requisite qualifications. The police report indicates that the doctor was prescribing allopathic medications despite lacking an MBBS or MD degree. Additionally, he was found storing allopathic drugs, which he is not authorized to dispense.

Serious Criminal Charges

In a separate but related incident, the doctor has also been accused of raping a Hindu woman and coercing her into converting to Christianity. He was operating the New Life Clinic in the Mandvi and Jhankhvaav areas.

Discovery of Illegal Practices

The illegal activities came to light following a specific tip-off received by the police, prompting a raid at the doctor’s residence. During the search, authorities seized allopathic medicines valued at over Rs 58,000. The confiscated items included various medications such as mental health tablets, antibiotic injections, skin creams, malaria injections, painkillers, and cough syrups, encompassing around 15 different types of drugs.

Official Statements

B.K. Vanar, Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Mangrol Division, informed Deshgujarat, “He holds a degree in homeopathy, while the seized medicines can legally be prescribed only by MBBS or MD doctors, as confirmed by a medical officer. Therefore, he has been booked for endangering public life.”

Victim’s Testimony

The investigation began when a married woman, who visited the clinic for her husband’s treatment, accused the doctor of exploiting her. She alleged that he lured her into a physical relationship and subsequently pressured her to convert to Christianity for marriage.
