The awards were presented by the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN), the leading national organization focused on advancing neurological research, education, and clinical standards, and the Association of Nurse Executive-India (ANEI), which represents senior nursing professionals, educators, and administrators dedicated to enhancing nursing governance and professional excellence in India.

Dr. Borah’s extensive research, numerous publications, and role as a mentor and social entrepreneur were praised by the IAN. The organization described his remarkable life journey of resilience and service as “monumental for Assam and the nation,” serving as an inspiration for the younger generation, as reported by the Ukhrul Times.

Originating from modest beginnings, Dr. Borah has become one of the most esteemed neurologists in India. The ANEI award, recognized as one of the highest honors in Indian nursing leadership, acknowledged Dr. Borah as a visionary neurologist and committed social reformer. The citation recognized initiatives such as GNRC Medireach, Swasthya Mitra, and the Universal Health Mission, which aim to provide affordable healthcare to rural and underserved communities. His involvement in founding the Asian Institute of Nursing Education in 2004 was also commended, as it has become a prominent institution for nursing education and leadership in India.
