The home of Dr. B S Nagarjuna Rao, a senior physician at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in New Chandigarh’s Sector-10, was targeted by burglars. Discovery of the Theft
The burglary was discovered early Monday morning upon Dr. Rao’s return from a family trip to Rishikesh. Upon arriving home around 4:30 AM, he found the main door lock and latch damaged, with both bedrooms ransacked. Following this alarming discovery, Dr. Rao promptly contacted the police, initiating a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Details of Stolen Items
According to the police report, the theft occurred while Dr. Rao was away from the city, having departed for Rishikesh by train on December 27. The stolen items include:
– Jewelry: Diamond-studded gold earrings, a platinum ring, a solitaire ring, three gold bracelets, and a diamond bracelet.
– Electronics: An expensive watch, a laptop computer, and an iPad.
– Currency: 70,000 and $500 in cash.
– Documents: A passport, credit cards, and forex cards.
A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station against unidentified individuals.
Ongoing Investigation
Forensic experts have visited the scene to gather evidence, and the police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby residential areas to identify the suspects. This incident follows a previous robbery where a doctor operating an eye clinic in SGM Nagar was attacked and robbed of Rs 1.10 lakh. In that case, the police have recovered Rs 70,000 so far and arrested two suspects.
