IMA NATCON 2025: Honoring Senior Doctors in Ahmedabad

In a significant event, 100 senior doctors aged 75 and above from across Gujarat were honored during the two-day national conference, IMA NATCON 2025, organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Ahmedabad. The conference concluded on Sunday, celebrating the contributions of these esteemed professionals.

Conference Highlights

The conference featured discussions on various critical health topics, including vector-borne diseases, diabetes and obesity, cardiac issues, respiratory illnesses, hospital certification, and the startup ecosystem in healthcare. Dr. Mehul Shah, president of IMA Gujarat and part of the conference secretariat, shared insights with the Times of India, noting that this event marked the 100th NATCON for IMA. He highlighted the impressive turnout, with over 5,000 doctors participating from across the nation and internationally, along with the submission of more than 500 medical paper abstracts and presentations.

Special Book Launch

To align with the conference theme, a special book was launched, featuring detailed articles from 100 distinguished doctors. This publication aimed to provide valuable insights on citizen well-being and easily implementable health improvement strategies.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The event was graced by several notable dignitaries, including Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, and the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel. The first day of the conference included keynote addresses from prominent medical figures such as Dr. Ramakant Panda, Dr. B Bhaskara Rao, Dr. Shashank Joshi, Dr. Rakesh Shah, and Dr. Aseem Shukla. They discussed advanced medical practices and emphasized the importance of evidence-based approaches and the integration of innovative technology in medicine.

Integrating Technology in Medicine

An organizer from IMA-GSB explained the conference’s goal of blending “cutting-edge technology with age-old wisdom.” He noted that advancements like artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI-ML) are transforming various fields, including medicine. The emphasis was placed on the necessity for doctors to continuously adapt to emerging technologies while maintaining the profession’s ethical standards.

Future Opportunities for Medical Students

In related news, Medic Helpline previously reported that over 900 Indian medical students will have the opportunity to collaborate with US-based medical facilities and professionals. This initiative is part of an anticipated memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) aimed at enhancing education and research collaboration.
