Bhopal Incident Involving Junior Doctor and Police Constables

Allegations of Threats and Assault

In a disturbing event, a junior doctor from Gandhi Medical College reported being threatened with a fabricated love jihad case involving two female junior doctors. This incident occurred at Kaliyasot Dam in Bhopal, where the doctor was allegedly assaulted and coerced into paying Rs 50,000 by two police constables. Following the incident, both constables have been suspended.

Details of the Incident

The confrontation unfolded on November 28 when the junior doctor visited the dam accompanied by two female colleagues. According to the complaint, the constables, identified as Matadeen from Tila Jamalpura police station and Sunil from Habibganj police station, were drinking at the dam with two other men.

An argument ignited when the constables questioned the doctor’s name. During this exchange, they allegedly warned the women doctors that the male doctor would entrap them in a love jihad case, followed by an assault on him.

Extortion and Immediate Aftermath

The accused constables reportedly threatened to falsely implicate the junior doctor in a case, extorting Rs 2,500 in cash and an additional Rs 2,500 through UPI, which was transferred to a friend of constable Sunil.

The following day, the Junior Doctors’ Association (JUDA) lodged a formal complaint at Koh-e-Fiza police station and organized a protest to demand accountability for the actions of the police personnel involved.

Police Response and Inquiry

In response to the complaint, Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra initiated an inquiry led by ACP Anjali Raghuvanshi. Upon reviewing the circumstances, he suspended both constables due to their suspicious behavior. Commissioner Mishra stated to the Free Press Journal, “Prima facie, the conduct of both constables was found suspicious, leading to their suspension. The suspended officers were not assigned to Chunabhatti police station, where the incident took place.”
