MIPS Participation Options

Choosing Your Participation Days

The length of your participation in the MIPS program can be determined by your practice size and the goals you wish to achieve.

MIPS Transition Year Overview

The MIPS transition year commenced on January 1, 2017, and will conclude on December 31, 2017. For optimal benefits, it is recommended to engage for the entire year. However, submitting data over a consecutive 90-day period can still qualify you for a maximum payment adjustment.

Submission Deadlines

It is crucial to submit MIPS data by March 31, 2018.

Participation Categories

  • Full Participation: Submit data for the complete year to potentially earn a maximum or positive payment adjustment.
  • Partial Participation: Submit data for 90 consecutive days, which may result in a positive, neutral, or maximum adjustment.
  • Test Participation: By providing the minimum required data—such as one quality measure for 2017—you can avoid a negative payment adjustment.
  • No Participation: Opting not to submit any data will result in a -4% payment adjustment, effective January 1, 2019.

Important Note

With less than 90 days remaining until December 31, 2017, it is imperative to submit at least one quality measure or improvement activity data under the Test option to prevent incurring a -4% payment adjustment.
