In a distressing event, Dr. Saurav Kumar, an orthopaedic specialist at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), narrowly avoided death when his car ignited. As he was about to drive home toward Boring Road, he detected an unusual smell immediately after starting the engine. Realizing something was wrong, he exited the vehicle, which erupted into flames just moments later.

Details of the Incident

The fire incident occurred on Wednesday near PMCH along the JP Ganga Path elevated road. Witnesses reported that thick black smoke billowed approximately 30 feet into the air, enveloping the entire hospital building.

According to reports from Bhaskar, the fire was attributed to a potential diesel leak. This leak ignited the engine as soon as it was turned on, leading to the rapid outbreak of flames. The sudden blaze incited panic in the vicinity, resulting in a significant traffic jam extending three kilometers along Ganga Path.

Response and Aftermath

Emergency services arrived promptly after receiving notifications about the fire and successfully controlled the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Dr. Kumar emerged unscathed.

Tragic Loss of Two MBBS Students

In a separate but related report, the Medic Helpline disclosed that two third-year MBBS students from SN Medical College lost their lives in a tragic road accident near the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) on National Highway 19, which connects Agra and Delhi. The deceased students, aged 22, hailed from Agra and Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh.
