Tragic Road Accident in Naxalbari Claims Life of Junior Doctor

Incident Details

In a heartbreaking incident, Dr. Sayantani Bhaduri, a junior doctor at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), lost her life in a road accident on Sunday. The collision occurred near Kadma More on the Panighata–Bagdogra state road in Naxalbari, involving two cars that collided head-on.

Victims and Injuries

Dr. Bhaduri was traveling in a vehicle with three others, including another woman junior doctor, when their car was struck by an oncoming four-wheeler. Reports from Siliguri Times indicate that the impact of the crash was severe, resulting in injuries to all individuals in both vehicles.

Emergency Response

Police from the Naxalbari police station and the Naxalbari Traffic Guard arrived promptly at the scene to assist the injured. The victims were initially transported to NBMCH for medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Dr. Bhaduri succumbed to her injuries. The other three injured individuals were taken to Naxalbari Hospital; however, two were later referred back to NBMCH due to their critical condition, while one person was discharged after receiving primary care.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have seized both vehicles involved in the accident and commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. This incident follows another tragic event reported by Medic Helpline, where a student from a government dental college was recently struck by a speeding vehicle, resulting in serious injuries to two accompanying doctors. The deceased student was identified as a 26-year-old final-year Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) student from Patran, Punjab, while the injured students sustained multiple fractures.
