Tragic Incident in Modasa Claims Lives of Newborn, Father, Doctor, and Nurse

In a heartbreaking event, a newborn baby, his father, a doctor, and a nurse lost their lives when the ambulance they were traveling in caught fire near Modasa town in Gujarat’s Arvalli district early Tuesday morning. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 1 am on the Modasa-Dhansura road, as the one-day-old infant was being transported to a private hospital in Ahmedabad for further medical care.

Victims Identified

Authorities have identified the victims as Jignesh Mochi, aged 38, the father; Dr. Shantilal Rentia, aged 30, from Ahmedabad; and nurse Bhuriben Manat, aged 23, from Arvalli. The police inspector, DB Vala, confirmed these details and reported that three other individuals—Mochi’s two relatives and the ambulance driver—sustained burn injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Emergency Response

The local fire brigade responded promptly after receiving the alert; however, despite their efforts, they were unable to save the four victims. The injured individuals have been identified as driver Ankit Thakor and Mochi’s relatives, Gaurang Mochi and Gitaben Mochi.

District Superintendent of Police Manoharsinh Jadeja announced that forensic experts have been summoned to investigate the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
