The deceased, who had been serving in the Emergency and Trauma Centre at AIIMS Bhopal, was discovered unconscious in her hostel room on December 11. Upon discovery, she exhibited a weak pulse and heartbeat. She was admitted to the hospital the same night and remained on ventilator support since her arrival.
Medical Efforts and Decline in Condition
Despite the continuous medical efforts of her colleagues, her health did not improve, leading to her death being confirmed around 10 a.m. on Monday. An official from AIIMS Bhopal stated that her body had been released to her family, while further details were withheld due to an ongoing police investigation.
Findings from Medical Examinations
An MRI scan conducted 72 hours after her admission indicated brain injury and prolonged oxygen deprivation, suggesting severe complications from her condition.
Background and Professional Qualifications
Colleagues reported that she had completed her duties on December 11 before returning home that evening. Her husband, an orthopaedic specialist, found her unconscious later that night and brought her to AIIMS around 10:30 p.m. Initially, he noted that everything seemed normal at home, and the family was engaged in their routine activities prior to the incident. The family expressed shock, as it was suspected she may have taken an overdose of a sedative.
She held an MD degree in General Medicine and was involved in various administrative roles at AIIMS Bhopal, including overseeing the Basic Life Support programme and nursing training sessions. Her educational background included an MBBS from MLN Medical College in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Her professional interests encompassed diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, palliative care, emergency medicine, and emergency care interventions.
