Wardha Police Arrest Doctor for Alleged Abetment of Daughter’s Suicide
Background of the Case
Wardha police detained a doctor on Tuesday following accusations of abetting his 18-year-old daughter’s suicide, reportedly due to ongoing mental harassment that began in 2021. Authorities stated that a case was registered at the Sawangi Meghe police station on February 1, leading to the doctor’s arrest in Yavatmal.
Details of the Complaint
The complaint was filed by the doctor’s wife on January 31, alleging that their daughter had endured prolonged mental torment from her father. The tragic incident unfolded when the daughter was discovered deceased in her room on December 6, 2025. Initially, a case of accidental death was recorded, but investigations were initiated at that time.
Claims of Abuse and Harassment
The complainant articulated that her husband had engaged in extramarital affairs and subjected their daughter to humiliation, often stating she was a disgrace and not his daughter. During a search of her daughter’s room on January 26, the complainant found a register containing a suicide note written in both English and Marathi. The note included grave accusations that her father had entered her room at night to commit indecent acts.
Suicide Circumstances
The complainant asserted that the harassment persisted from 2021 until 2025, ultimately leading to the daughter’s tragic decision to end her life using helium gas and a plastic sheet on the night of December 5-6, 2025. Reports indicate that the accused ordered a helium gas cylinder on December 5, which was delivered to their home in Wardha.
Police Action
Following the submission of the register as evidence by the complainant, the Sawangi Meghe police acted promptly. They arrested the accused in Umarkhed, located in the Yavatmal district, charging him with abetting suicide.
